A Letter to Paige

Last weekend was my God Daughter's very first birthday party.

Happy Birthday, Paige Michele!!

I just know that in 15 years from now, you are going to look at this and be sooooo mad that I posted this picture on here. And that's okay. You can be mad, because this is one of the most precious faces in the world. In your defense, I will tell the world that

a. You had just woken up.
b. It had been raining ALL day.
c. Mommy had fixed it by time your guests arrived.

Sweetheart, I want you to know just how loved you are.

Mommy and Daddy, Aunt Missy, Aunt Kiki and Uncle Sean worked like crazy trying to get everything ready for your big day. Mommy wanted everything perfect....and it was! The rain had us all a little frazzled at first, but you know what? A little rain never hurt nobody!

Oh Paige, I wish I had pictures of your Mommy drying out the inside of your jump house by bouncing around with her pj's on.....or of your Uncle Sean and Daddy soaking wet from moving everything inside.....they were a sight to see! Aunt Kiki worked SO hard on your precious butterfly birthday cake and cupcakes....and they were YUMMY YUMMY!!

At least you and Daddy seemed to think so :)!

There were 60+ people at your birthday party and they drove from miles and miles away just to celebrate YOU! Our little angel!

There was a face painter who made you all into fairies and tigers and princesses.

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

Well, all except Mr. Grayson. He couldn't be bothered with face painting.

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

He was much too busy playing in the rain, stealing your brand new 4 wheeler everytime you turned around, and jumping in the jump house. No siree, no face painting for him.

(you three look verrry guilty)

Paige, you bring so much happiness and joy to everyone who enters the same room as you.

Since the day you were born, I knew great things would surround you. You have a light inside you that shines so bright.

I love you and your Mommy and Daddy SO much and pray for you every.single.night.

Thank you for picking me as your Godmother so that I may watch over you as you grow into a beautiful woman.

My My....How Things Change

Grayson,

I was just reading a past post of your 18 month check up.

Wow.
This was 19 months ago

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

It's incredible how much you've changed since your 18 month appointment, let alone your 6 month! We've gone from one sided conversations (me) to two-way conversations almost over night. The books I used to read to you are now being recited back to me.....broken english, perhaps....but reciting, none the less.

You have become this tiny "mini-me" of your Dad

and he and I enjoy watching your every move......such the comedian! Always wondering what your next big trick will be.
Today you started hopping around on one foot around the coffee table saying, "hop hop hop". Big milestone, dude. Huge.

Today was also your 2 year check up with Dr. Nail.

Weight 29 lbs 50-75%
Height 36 inches 90% (didn't see that one coming)
Head 19.3" 75%
A++

A couple of weeks ago, Mommy bought you a doctor kit with a scan-thermometor, fabric bandages, a medicine syringe, booger-sucker, and a plastic shot-needle-thingy. It came in a pink and purple flower-y purse. The blue "man-ly doctor kit" was like $25....ummmm, sorry dude, pink and purple was only $9.99......it won't kill you.

So we started pretend playing Doctor and you would give Mommy shots and band aids and medicine to drink and Mommy would check your heart and head for bumps and bruises and give you kisses on your boo-boos and Handy Manny band aids to make you all better.

We talked about Dr. Nail and how he is our friend and that he likes to see how you are getting SO big and that you can say your ABC's, etc.

And today?

Worked like a charm.

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

You were the biggest Big Boy that I have ever seen!! You held my hand as we walked across the parking lot......in the rain. Splashing in the puddles and jibber jabbing how you were going to see your "freee ind toctuh" (friend doctor).

You pushed the button to open the elevator and waited ever so patiently.

When the door opened, you polietly said, "muse me" (excusing yourself as you pushed through the other waiting patrons).

We walked into the doctor's office and you immediatly turned on the charm. Batting your eyes at the receptionists who thought you looked "so cute in your t-shirt and jeans and oh-the-hair....Mary look at his hair....isn't he precious?"

Mmm hmmm.....I know what you're up to, buddy. Can't fool Momma. I see you eyeing those suckers in the big fish bowl. Real sneaky, Mr.

Not a second later, it started. The whining. The inncessant, non-stop whining for yum-yums.

To which I replied, "Grayson, if you are a big boy for Dr. Nail, you can have a sucker, okay?".

To which you replied, "Gotta wait! Freee-ind-toctuh. Gotta wait".

After measuring and weighing, poking and prodding...Dr. Nail finally came in. You were so calm, unlike any other visit. You gave him high-5's and knucks for getting rid of your sassy and said half of your ABC's for him. You told him you watched "feet ball" with Daddy and let him listen to your heart. It was smooth sailing....until the checking of the teeth and the flashlight in the ears. My bad, dude. We didn't practice that and you were caught off guard. Mommy's sorry.

Then the "shot nurse" came in. She had suckers in her pocket and a smile on her face. Instant friends, you two. She let you practice giving Mommy and her a shot with your plastic shot-needle-thingy and then Mommy and her each got a sucker.

Then it was your turn.

Holy Schmoly.....O U C H x 2!!!!!

You gave me the dirtiest look as your eyes welled up with tears. Then the screaming/crying came and you were PISSED!!! I know buddy, it was nothing like we practiced, was it? Mommy's SO sorry!!!

Sucker?

Mmmm hmm.....that's what I thought.....instant drying of the tears.

You got your 2 suckers.....one for Hep A shot and one for Flu....and a Handy Manny sticker and were good to go!

No more doctors till you turn 3 and this made Mommy happy:

No more shots till you turn 4!!! WOOOO HOOOOO! Except for flu......but that's just a little one, no biggie!

"You And I"

This song makes me smile, cry, and laugh all at the same time.

Was it you who spoke the words that things would happen but not to me
Oh things are gonna happen naturally
Oh taking your advice I'm looking on the bright side
And balancing the whole thing
But often times those words get tangled up in lines
And the bright lights turn to night
Until the dawn it brings
Another day to sing about the magic that was you and me

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
Others only read of the love, the love that I love.

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

See I'm all about them words
Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words
Hundreds of pages, pages, pages forwards
More words then I had ever heard and I feel so alive

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

You and I, you and I
Not so little you and I anymore
And with this silence brings a moral story
More importantly evolving is the glory of a boy

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just dream of
And if you could see me now
Well I'm almost finally out of
I'm finally out of
Finally deedeedeedee
Well I'm almost finally, finally
Well I'm free, oh, I'm free

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

And it's okay if you have to go away
Oh just remember the telephone works both ways
And if I never ever hear them ring
If nothing else I'll think the bells inside
Have finally found you someone else and that's okay
Cause I'll remember everything you sang

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

Cause you and I both loved what you and I spoke of
and others just read of and if you could see now
well I'm almost finally out of.
I'm finally out of, finally, deedeeededede
well I'm almost finally, finally, finally out of words.

Grayson~

Your words have just exploded in these last few precious weeks. It seems as though everyday you have a new saying or phrase to make Mommy and Daddy laugh. For instance yesterday, watching the Cowboy game, you ran around yelling "feet ball" "feet ball"!
One of your girlfriends has taught you the phrase, "no way", and so you choose to answer every question with this.

"Grayson, do you want to go take a bath?"

"No way!"

"Grayson, do you want to eat your chicken?"
"No way!"

You demand back scratches daily.
This morning I walked into your room to wake you up and you immediately rolled over onto your tummy and said, "Mamma....nigh night....backa" .

I usually scratch your back before you go to sleep at night and you love it so much.
You have definitely become more "spirited" with your choices.
As I was pouring your bowl of cereal this morning, you started whining "No no nooooo...cake cakes"

"Okay, you want pancakes instead of cereal?"
"No way"
Oh Grayson, I love you!!
It amazes me how in just a little over a month your words have quadrupled by the dozens......your just a little dude now.

Your 2 year check up is Wednesday and I'm very curious as to what Dr. Nail will think of you. You are no longer the little toddler with a sassy in your mouth. You are a running, jumping, climbing, sticky, sweaty, talking little boy.

And Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you and all your accomplishments thus far.
