God's Autumn Glitter...

...is simply AMAZING!!!

Fall is in full swing here in North Texas and I wanted to celebrate it to the fullest!

Ever since Gray was born, I made it my "Mommy Mission" to hike all over the metroplex in search of the "best pumpkin patch". Last year we visited a different one each week! I was always SO excited to capture the perfect picture of my perfect pumpkin.

This year, however, things are a little different.

Don't get me wrong....Fall is still my most favorite time of year, but I don't think it's possible to get the "perfect picture" with a certain three year old running up and down muddy rows and rows of pumpkins while a certain 2 month old is trying to nestle herself quietly in her ca coon on Mommy's chest. It's not like last year where I could plop down on my belly and get a close up of Gray licking his Halloween lollipop

or the year before that, where he was barely walking

or the year before that, where I could just prop him up against a pumpkin and he would stay.

Oh no.

This year, he's running as fast as his little legs will allow him...away.

From me. And I try so hard to keep up...but I have a little something nestled so quietly on my chest and I can't catch him. So I scream. In my loudest whisper, "Graaaaaysoooon waaaaaaait!"

So being the sucky Mommy that I sometimes am...we only went to one pumpkin patch this year. One. And it was muddy and windy and muddy....with rotten, muddy pumpkins.

And then, then I redeemed myself.

Behold, Autumn at the Arboretum.

It was magnificent.....I mean, who even says magnificent anymore? I do! Because it was, in all of God's glory....Autumn Glitter.

We went with our closest "guy friends"...

yeh, we're three and we have "guy friends" now. And they are "so cool", Grayson says.

With guy friends, you can lay down on your belly and not care about getting dirty and the water disappears into the sky....

With guy friends, you can play follow the leader while singing The Little Einsteins theme song at the top of your lungs and everybody gets a turn at being the leader.

With guy friends, you share your Kool Aid and walk way ahead of your Mommies and talk about "guy stuff" and being big brothers.

So, needless to say, Grayson had fun.

As for my littlest pumpkin....

she was in her element. So alert and just taking it all in, color by color.

She dozed a couple of times, once in the stroller

and once on my chest...but then, then she was ready for her roll in the hay.

Er grass...

She just cooed away at God's fingerpainted landscape.

And I have to say, this was by far the most AMAZING pumpkin patch EVER! I mean, who knew pumpkins could float??

I would assume they would sink like stones. It had never, ever occurred to me to even wonder about the possibility.

It was a sight to see, pumpkins...not apples, bobbing in the large fountain.

We stopped to smell the flowers,

then picked the perfect spot for a picnic.

After making poor choices and getting soaking wet in the fountain,

we had a quick "time out" to think about what we did wrong and gave ourself time to dry out.

We were ready to head home....

but not before a quick nap.

It was a glorious day

spent with our littles.

Treasured memories that I can't wait to add to again next Fall.
