Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things I love to love about you:

13.You are so stinkin' squishy, I want to squeeze you all the time. I feel as though I need to inhale you every second....I love your little boy smell.

12.I love how you get SO excited when I pull the vacuum out. It's as if we are on a mission to see who can get through your bedroom door first. I say, "I'm gonna get you" and you think it's hilarious if it touches your toes. All the while, Bentley looks on in horror....she doesn't get it, she's a girl.

11.You are so funny. You already have such a sense of humor and a pinch of ornery. I love when I tell you no-no-no, and you look at me show me those two pearly whites and shake your head with a vengeance as you repeat back to me, no-no no-no, as if it were your idea:)

10.I love how you are all boy!!! I mean rock eating, sand throwing, outlet plug finger sticking, head throwing, body bucking, eating off the floor, remote loving B O Y!!!!

9.I love how you light up when those you love walk in the room. I can already see compassion and encouragement in you. You smile so freely when you see your doggie or when we're playing and all of a sudden you start freakin' out yelling(and i do mean yelling) "da-da, da-da"....you heard him unlocking the door and you toddle as fast as you can through the kitchen and lunge for him with all you have as soon as he walks in the door. Or when the moment I walk in your room after nap time and you just get so excited. It is a blessing to watch your joy for life overflow.

8.I love the way you look for me in the house when you have lost tabs on me. First I hear the pitter patter of hands and knees for a few seconds. Then I hear your booty hit the floor as you sit up.... then like literal music to my ears..... "my momma? my momma"? Then the pitter patters again towards my voice and a mixture of grunting and "my momma"? continues until you spot me and throw those precious arms in the air waiting for me to pick you up:)

7.I love how you shovel in your food and nibble on your chubby little fingers with every bite and then promptly look at me and say "Mo.......mo?" You can put away the groceries son and it makes me laugh.

6.Lately, when you don't feel like eating something, instead of just not eating it, you drop or fling it onto the floor. Broccoli? No thank you. Get the wretched thing out of my sight, please. Flick, fling, plop. I love how when you've finished whatever it was that you were eating, you decide to wipe your tray clean, like you're "washing" it for me. That was very thoughtful of you, son...thank you.

5.I love to watch you learn. You listen to Yo Gabba Gabba like no child I have ever seen. It is crazy how still your busy little body gets and how you focus on each movement and every lyric that comes from their lips.

4.I love your imagination. I think it is awesome how you love your trucks and cars and just, how do you know to love that? You make buddin' buddin' noises for anything you can push...the laundry basket, the wastebasket, Daddy's shoe....you can turn anything into a vehicle, what an imagination you have. Refer to the point I made earlier about you being all boy....

3.I love to watch you dance. It can make me cry I am laughing so hard as you bounce your little legs to the beat and raise the roof so hard with both your chubby little arms that you fall over backwards and belly laugh. Then come right back for "mo"re:)

2.I love that you have such a gentle spirit in the midst of all your boy. It is the most incredible thing when you cry when your Mommy does. You've seen me tear up quite a bit, lately. It's a very emotional month for me, little man. Mommy is trying so hard to prepare herself for your "growing up". Remember how I used to cry every Friday because you were a week older? I don't do that anymore. I will adjust. Thank you for sharing your sassy with Mommy....that was incredibly thoughtful. It is amazing the way you greet me with an open mouth kiss and bury your head into my chest to give love. Moments to treasure forever when you wake up in your bed and lay there for a few minutes singing, I have no doubt that goes straight to our Father's ears. It is literally angelic.

1.The thing I love most...is that you, Grayson Michael, are my REWARD. Little did I know what God had in mind when I found out you were on your way. It had been and was a really rough season and I had not planned on a little guy entering the picture. I remember finding out you were coming and feeling so very inadequate and scared to bring you into what I thought was a mess. God assured me you were coming in perfect time and you were my reward, our reward. The whole family needed reassurance, we needed you. I walked in faith until the moment I met you and instantly it was a reality. It was as if God was painting a masterpiece and he had already done a pretty good job, I just couldn't see the whole picture. Sometimes he must take a life to create one. He must split one family up to build a new one. God had some finishing touches for our family and when you entered....it was clear to me, God was given me, us, a reward for staying in the mess long enough to see it was never a mess but a work in progress. My little boy, you show me love and give me love in a way that is straight from our Father. He has blessed me with your life and I pray he grants me the wisdom and clarity to be a blessing in yours. Thanks little man for being my reward:)

"You'll always be a part of me. I'm a part of you indefinitely."

BIRTHDAY PICTURES

I took Grayson to Kiddie Kandids this afternoon to shoot his birthday pictures. He was such a little angel and did everything he was supposed to do. He smiled on cue, played with trucks on cue, and dug his little paws into his first birthday cake.....on cue! We had SO much fun! The pics are a little blurry because they don't want you to print them yourself.....but you get the idea!

TWO OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE BECAME ONE

And the only thing that would make them cooler is if they had a child.....but we're not ready for that just yet. They just got married....sheesh....give 'em a minute, or a honeymoon to Jamaica...I'm just saying.

Kevin and I had an amazing weekend! Justin and Liz's wedding extravaganza was an absolute blast! These two are incredible. They're funny. They're beautiful. They can't sing. They are our friends and we love them. Justin and Kevin work together, so they met a little over a year ago. They are really close and Kevin's a groomsmen. Liz is a teacher in the ghetto and is incredible. She's the whole package....funny, beautiful, smart, tan, blonde, spunky and fabulous...I knew we would be friends the instant I met her!

The next day, Saturday, Kev and I had an afternoon date. Just the two of us! We ate at the food court at Stonebriar. I had Chick Filet and he had Sabarro's pizza (classy, I know....this is how we roll), then we headed up to see The Dark Knight.

Yes, we had two queens...how unromantic. So, we asked our friends, Chris and Anne, to bunk with us. Hey, if we're not gettin' any....they shouldn't either, right?

The wedding was on the 69th floor of the Bank of America building (that's the tallest one downtown with the neon green lights)....absolutely breathtaking!
Here's the view. I live over there.

We danced until we couldn't dance anymore....ate candy from the candy bar until our tummy's hurt....and witnessed an amazing couple promise their vows in front of God. It was perfect!
A perfect ending to a perfect weekend!
