Labor Day Mini Vacay

Early Sunday morning, we loaded up the Xterra and headed west. After a quick stop at Mimi & Pappi's Doggie Hotel:)....we were on the road to Lake PK.

Lake Possum Kingdom is approximately 70 miles west of Fort Worth.

It is known for it's crystal clear water, a beautiful golf course and steep cliffs. I guess it's also well known because of a little musical group called The Toadies whom your Mommy and Daddy used to "rock out" to....back in the day.

Your Great Aunt and Uncle live there in a beautiful lake-front home and we absolutely love going to visit! Before you came into this world, your Daddy and I spent many a weekend with them. They just built a breath-taking, brand new home from the ground up (I say from the ground up because they tore down their old one and rebuilt on the same spot). Think Pottery Barn magazine meets Town and Country. G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.

We arrived around lunch and had yummy Philly cheese steak sammiches and then just sat and relaxed. Ahhhhhh. Beautiful weather. Beautiful scenery. Just beautiful!

And while Mommy and Daddy were relaxing......you, my dear, were busy busy busy!
I'm guessing since Labor Day was fast approaching, you felt the need to tidy up a bit.
First you found some red dirt and scattered it ever so gently all over the patio.
Next, you felt it necessary to sweep it back into the flower bed.

Good boy.
Next, it was time for the shop vac. You decided that all the little leaves needed to be placed in the shop vac hose.

This made you hot and sweaty, so it was time for swimming!
Your first time to stick your little feet in lake water and Mommy forgot her camera.
Shame. On. Me.

Though a little unsure at first, you were splashing around in no time! You thought it was so cool how you could put mud on Mommy and then the tide would come up and wash it away. Like magic.

You said, "Oooh yuck yuck" and then "Ahhhh bye-bye yuck yuck". The magic tide made the yuck go away.

Uncle R thought you would like his super-duper-big-air-craft-carrier float.

And you did.

For like an hour.

After you decided it was finally clean enough, Mommy and Aunt J pulled it all the way to the water (all 500 lbs of it). We tied it to the pier and climbed in ever so gracefully.

The three of us floated in it for a while watching the jet ski's and tube's and wake boarders zoom by.
After turning a nice shade of pink....we decided it was time to start preparing dinner.
Daddy and Coleman had been playing golf this whole time and would be back soon.

Daddy got to play at The Cliff's.

A beautiful well-known golf resort near by.
He said the views were amazing......

and I would have to agree.

After a quick late afternoon snack, Mommy thought you might want to rest for a bit.

But you had other plans.

You would rather dump dominos and Jenga blocks all over the living room floor. You would rather drink Spicy Dr Pepper behind Momma's back and pop 15 M&M's in your mouth at one time. You probably would've gotten away with it too, had you not burped the remnants in Mommy's face. Little stinker!

You were in your own little world. New things to discover every second and I wasn't about to stop you.

Around 8 p.m. you finally decided to let yourself slow down and take a break.

You found Teddy and I found you. Like this.

Watching the world go by, you decided to slow down for a bit......and watch.

So peaceful.

We were on vacation. No need for naps! You would just sleep better that night..........or so I thought.

One would think after waking you up at 8 a.m.(you usually sleep till 10).....a 2 hour car ride......a day of jumping and swimming and chasing little weenie dogs.....and no afternoon nap, you would sleep peacefully that night.

One would think.

Grayson, I don't know what was in that hot dog you ate for dinner, but I have never....in two years....ever had to fight you going to sleep.....ever. Like literally, fight you. Hold you down. You fell asleep at 10 pm and were awake again at 1 am......you were hysterical....and not in the funny sense. Maybe you had a bad dream. A night terror, perhaps? I've heard of those. It was horrible. I couldn't console you. I was so afraid you were going to wake everyone else.....luckily I found out the next morning, you didn't. The house is that big.

After getting up and getting you some "mooka" (milk). Then some "snnnak" (Cheerio's). Then to say "night night" to the moon......again (for the upteenth time). We sat on the couch and you demanded I scratch your back. And I did. For 45 minutes. You had fallen asleep and so had my left arm that I had to carry you with down the long hallway back to your bed.

And you slept. Till.........6 am. WTHeck??? Where is my son and what have you done with him?? Where is my son who sleeps 14 hours every night and takes 2-3 hour naps??? The son that asks to go night night.....the same son who I have to wake up at 10 every morning?? Can you find him and send him back to me?

I can see all my girlfriends faces as they are reading this...thinking out loud..."Finally"..."Geesh"!

So, um yeah, that's how our fabulous night in our fabulous resort-style-hotel-esque bed went. All 6 hours of it.

We awoke to a beautiful sunrise. Breathtaking actually.

5 cups of coffee (daddy) and 2 waffles (you) later....Mommy finally crawled out of bed. You and Daddy let me sleep in for a little while longer before both demanding back scratches.

The boats were out in full force. Everyone trying to get their fix in before leaving to go back to work.

The day flew by much too quickly.

After grilling some stuffed jalepenos and brisket burgers, we found ourselves not wanting to get up and pack. I didn't want to leave. Ever.

And niether did you.

You threw the biggest fit I have honestly EVER seen. I blamed it on sleep deprevation, but honestly, why would you ever want to leave............

A-mazing!

And just so you know, the next time you head to PK, Tommy, Averee, & I will be patiently waiting in fetal positions behind the seat...so don't be alarmed when you open the hatch to unload your belongings. It's just us....no worries! Kthanks!
